THE DEADLINE FOR PROPOSALS HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO SEPTEMBER 15, 2009
The English Department at the Faculty of Philology, SWU, is pleased to announce the forthcoming international conference Memory and Truth. Co-organizer of the conference is the Faculty of Philosophy of the SWU.
In today’s globalized world, ‘memory’ and ‘truth’ have evolved into meeting-ground issues for a whole range of scholarly disciplines: philosophy, sociology, psychology, political history, literary studies, cultural anthropology, linguistics, etc.
We invite contributions from various fields, which tend to problematize the common interpretative paradigms that subsume these two notions.
Presentations will be given a 30-min time slots, including a 5 to 10-min discussion at the end.
Working languages of the conference: English, Bulgarian
Conference fee: 60 Euros
Abstracts, not exceeding 300 words, should be sent by 15 September 2009 to Elena Andonova
The following information should be specified in the presentation proposal: title of the paper; name of the author(s); affiliation of the author(s); e-mail address.
Papers presented at the conference will be published in a proceedings volume.
Presentation of papers is scheduled for October 28-30, 2009. On October 31 conference participants will be offered a day trip to some of the landmarks in the area.

Travelling to Blagoevgrad:
For conference participants travelling from abroad: if you are arriving at Sofia airport, it is recommended that you get to Sofia Central Bus Station and take a bus to Blagoevgrad. The timetable can be checked here - you can select "English" from the menu in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
Buses on the Sofia-Blagoevgrad line are relatively frequent and are faster and more comfortable than trains. The journey is 2 hours long. The cost of the return ticket is about 20 Lv.
